I once dumped a doctor because he lagged on helping me correct vital numbers as in cholesteral hdl and ldl. I thank God for my sister who advised what the medical associations recommend. HDL is the good cholesterol, and LDL is the bad stuff. When the physician orders a blood lipid panel, the desired total level is below 200. They like LDL to be below 70 and HDL around 60, that's md/dl. Depending on your family history, you may need medicine to help lower it, I did. And now with salads nearly every day. and fiber added to my yogurt, I am much better off.
