God is Watching

Children were lined up in the cafeteria of a Catholic school for lunch. At the head of the table was a large pile of apples. The nun made a note, "Take only one, God is watching."

At the other end of the table was a large pile of chocolate chip cookies. Moving through the line a boy wrote another note to leave by the cookies, "Take all you want, God is watching the apples."

Guardian Angel on the Job

A man was walking in the street when he heard a voice: "Stop! Stand still! If you take one more step, a brick will fall down on your head and kill you." The man stopped and a big brick fell right in front of him. The man was astonished. He went on, and after awhile he was going to cross the road. Once again the voice shouted: "Stop! Stand still! If you take one more step a car will run over you and you will die." The man did as he was instructed, and a car came careening around the corner, barely missing him. "Where are you?" the man asked.

Glory Be Unto the Father

Walking by, a minister saw his 5-year-old son and playmates find a dead robin. Feeling that proper burial should be performed, the children had secured a small box and cotton batting, then dug a hole and made ready for the disposal of the deceased. The minister's son was chosen to say the appropriate prayers and with sonorous dignity intoned his version of what he thought his father always said: "Glory be unto the Faaaather, and unto the Sonnn... and into the hole he gooooes."

No-Parking Zone

A minister parked his car in a no-parking zone in a large city because he was short of time and couldn't find a space with a meter. So he put a note under the windshield wiper that read: "I have circled the block 10 times. If I don't park here, I'll miss my appointment. FORGIVE US OUR TRESPASSES." When he returned, he found a citation from a police officer along with this note: "I've circled this block for 10 years. If I don't give you a ticket, I'll lose my job. LEAD US NOT INTO TEMPTATION."

Where is God?

A couple had two little boys who were always getting into trouble. Their parents knew that if any mischief occurred in their village, their sons were probably involved.

The boys' mother heard that an elder in town had been successful in disciplining children, so she asked if he would speak with her sons. The elder agreed, but asked to see them separately.

Emberessing moments

My 9 year old daughter has began learning about poverty. She ased me a week ago if we were poor. I said well, we are not rich but I wouldn't say we are poor. So later on in the day her and I went to the store and she asked if she could buy a toy. I sad no and she stared singing as loud as she could, "were poor, were poor!" over and over again. I was embaressed!

My cat is freaking me out!

I am pretty sure that my cat needs some type of pill to control her mood swings. One minute she loves you and the next she is hissing, bitting, and attacking you. I have never seen such an angry cat before . Have you?

And I am talking about cooking, LOL! My daughter likes to cook the noodles for the 3 minutes, drain all the water, then put it in a bowl wth the seasoning packet, sour cream, cheddar cheese, and salsa. It looks very gross but she loves it. How about you? Do you have a different and strange way to serve up your romans? Undecided

3. Only in America......do drugstores make the sick walk all the way to
the back of the store to get their prescriptions while healthy people
can buy cigarettes at the front.

CAKE TIPS

  • To keep holes and tunnels out of your cake, run a knife through the
batter after you have finished mixing it. This removes air holes.
  • To
keep loaf cakes fresher longer, cut slices from the middle rather than
from the end. When you're finished slicing, firmly push the two
leftover sections together to reform a loaf. This way, you eliminate
leaving an exposed, quick-to-dry-out "end" slice.

Single young women seeking a
gourmet twist to their cooking always think of home-cooked Chinese food as a
quick entry-point. Here, coming to rescue, are some tips to soup up the most
exotic (or even ordinary) cuisine.

Posted in:

Authentic seasonings are essential to Chinese cooking. Most supermarkets now stock many of these ingredients, as do the growing number of Asian markets throughout the metro area. Here's a list of some of the most readily available spices and sauces:

Chili peppers: Add a hot and spicy edge to Sichuan-style dishes.

Chili paste: Made with mashed chili peppers, vinegar and garlic, a fiery flavor that puts zing into Chinese dishes.

Five-spice powder: Ground anise, Sichuan pepper, fennel, cloves and cinnamon. The pungent blend is for flavoring meat and poultry.

"Soup'erlicious" Ideas

A soup may be
thick or thin, hot or cold, subtle or spicy, jellied, pureed or creamed. It may
be as clear as a glass or full of chunky bits of vegetables and meats. Some
soups derive their essential flavor from a rich stock; other depends upon water
or milk to capture the pure taste of the ingredients. Certain soups can be
cooked in 30 minutes (some do not even take cooking), but others require hours
of slow simmering and taste even better when they've been left to mellow in the

TIPS ON FOOD

Yucky looking water

When refilling water bottles a few years ago, we saw
little critters swimming in the water bottle. Several refillings did not
solve the problem. Then we tried pouring the water through a bandana and
it worked as a fine filter.

When
summer is in full swing, a top summer activity is picnicking and
entertaining outdoors. The bacteria that cause illness grow on moist,
usually protein-based foods that are between 41º F and 140º F, so
minimize the time you allow these foods to stay at these temperatures.
For better peace of mind that you're serving safe food to your family
and friends, keep the following food safety guidelines in mind:

Posted in:

Wash your hands and forearms thoroughly before preparing or serving food. Use warm water and soap for at least 20 seconds.

While You Are Cooking...

Meats must be cooked to the proper temperature to assure safety.

Germs such as E-coli and salmonella can still be present in
undercooked meats such as hamburger and chicken. These germs can cause
severe illness and even death.
